ASSAN DIOMA NDIAYE :“Our office was informed with the case of the Gambian Journalist by a Radio Station called RFM which asked for our immediate intervention”

Me Assane Dioma Ndiaye, one of the renowned and outspoken Legal Practitioner in Senegal also the Coordinator of the League of the Senegalese Human Rights and a member of the Bureau International Quebec, yesterday has informed the participants of the auspicious gathering at the Raddisson Blu Hotel in Dakar, that “it is Legitimate to be a Rebel against Tyranny in any Country”.  

Me Ndiaye who was at a tense atmosphere when speaking before the distinguish participants from different organization, outlined that the Gambia at this moment is a symbol of injustice throughout the west African Region.  He indicated that the theme of the conference was to break the silence on the violations of Human Rights in the Gambia; further buttressing that the Gambia is already seen has one of the most undemocratic Countries in the World.

Me Assane Dioma Ndiaye said no matter how long it takes, President Jammeh must answer to all the charges of the height of Human Rights violation, notwithstanding Genocide, and for committing series of crimes against Humanity. “Senegal is documenting all the cases that are been perpetrated by the repressive Regime of President Jammeh”.

Me Ndiaye further warned the Senegalese officials to immediately stop the double standard and the hypocrisy game between Gambia – Senegal and call on them to start facing Yahya Jammeh with regards to the troubles he is masterminding in the Senegalese trouble region of Cassamasse. He said if care is not taken, Senegal will be blame seriously with all what is currently happening in Gambia. Ndiaye took the chance in mentioning the expulsion of Kukoie Samba Sanyang as one of the greatest errors of the Sall’s Government. He said president Macky Sall must do all he can to provide security for the Gambians leaving in Senegal.

Me Assane Dioma Ndiaye indicated that the recent threat that was posed to a Critical Gambian Journalist for expressing his views against the regime of the Gambia was totally against and in contravention to the instruments of the International Laws and treaties. He outlined that Gambians leaving in Senegal must have the right to express their views with regards to building democracy in their Country. He said most of the Senegalese officials do not even understand the International Laws and conventions, which is why we are currently witnessing serious cases of threat with extradition.

Ndiaye further express that Senegal will not have any Jurisdiction for protection if they should extradite Mr Saidykhan for simply expressing his views. “Our office was informed with the case of the Gambian Journalist by a Radoi Station called RFM which asked for our immediate intervention. He urged the Journalist who was threaten to forward the information behind his threat to their office for legal action. He said the case of Saidykhan is a clear testimony that could be used to challenge the two Governments at the ECOWAS Court. “We should never allow Gambians to be killed by silence, further indicating that condemning someone for simply expressing his/her views is a crime against humanity” said Me Ndiaye. He finally concluded by saying that President Jammeh will succeed in reducing Gambians into Slavery, provided that the necessary actions are not quickly taken.
