The president of the Republic, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh Tuesday gave out 25 bulls as Christmas gift to the Christian community in the country.

The bulls were presented to The Gambia Christian Council (GCC) for onward delivery to the various denominations such as the Anglican, Methodist and the Catholic Missions by the vice president and minister of Women’s Affairs, Her Excellency Aja Dr. Isatou Njie-Saidy at State House.

In her remarks, the VP thanked President Jammeh for the gift, noting that the benefactor has always been grateful to the Christians for their contribution to the maintenance of peace in the country.

“The president is also grateful that the Muslims and the Christians are living together in harmony in the country,” she said, commending both religious communities for their continued prayers for the peace and tranquility of the country.

Wishing the Christian community a happy Christmas festive season, Njie-Saidy assured them of President Jammeh and his entire government’s support at all times.

Representing the GCC, Reverend Okike Caanon Jacob thanked the president for the gift and assured of their continuous prayers for the peace and stability of the country. “The president always gives provision to the Christian community anytime there is a festive season,” he acknowledged.

While assuring that the bulls will be fairly distributed between the various Christian denominations in the country, Reverend Jacob prayed for President Jammeh’s continuous wellbeing.
