Jammeh Cattle(JollofNews) – A court in the Gambia has granted bail to a senior military officer and two men accused of stealing President Yahya Jammeh’s cows.

Lt. Colonel Solo Bojang, Gibril Bojang and Anineh Jammeh, were given a D1 million bail by Magistrate S.K. Jobarteh of the Brikama Magistrate’s Court.

Despite efforts by the prosecution to keep the men in remand, Magistrate Jobarteh said the offence the men are charge with is a bailable one and it would be a breach of their constitutional rights to deny them bail.

The men, who were both working for Yahya Jammeh at his Kanilai Family Farm, were said to have nicked nine cows valued at D180, 000 in October.

Since there arrest in October, the men were held incommunicado at the notorious NIA headquarters in Banjul until early this month when they were charged with two counts of theft at the Brikama Magistrate’s Court.

Lt. Colonel Solo Bojang has pleaded guilty to one count of theft while Gibril Bojang and Anineh Jammeh have rejected all the charges against them.

The case continues.
