Thomas Aarem is a former Norwegian army officer. He owns a restaurant in the Gambia. The restaurant, which is situated in Kololi near the carwash is called Dofflez restaurant. He is married to a Gambian girl one Fatou Janha. Thomas’s story is an interesting and frightening one for that matter. He hangs out with Yahya Jammeh’s lead assassin team member Major Sana Manjang. We will get into the main crop of the story, as we proceed with this masterpiece write up.
To begin with, I first met Thomas Aarem on Facebook some months ago, when he requested to befriend me. At the time, I do not know Mr. Aarem’s military background, national origin, and Gambian connections. He sent me a friend request, but after going through his profile, I was reluctant to add him on my list of Facebook friends. The dude just does not look like a regular person after making a thorough analysis of his Facebook profile; without any prejudice intended. Thomas wore no shirt and he puts on a black sunglass on his profile photo.
At a glance initially, I was under the impression that this was yet another fake profile, as Social Media is increasingly becoming a platform for folks of interesting characters to prey on genuine Facebook users. Well, I must admit that my assumption was dead wrong. Thomas’s profile was legit.
There were few scary pictures with writing inscriptions on Thomas’s Facebook page, which reads: “SEND ME A COMMENT OR SAY GOOD BYE TO THE DUCK!” while someone is pointing a pistol at a duck. The person’s face never featured on the photograph. Another statement coming from Mr. Aarem’s page reads: “I DO VERY BAD THINGS, AND I DO THEM VERYWELL.” The other writing inscription was in Norwegian. There were photographs of children on his page.
It was only this past week, that a source of mine in Banjul contacted me. My source explained to me; among other things: Thomas Aarem’s close ties with Sana Manjang, Jammeh’s chief assassin, Pa Bojang, a Police Intervention Unit (PIU) officer, and Thomas’s strained relationship with his Gambian wife Fatou Janha. It took me sometime before my mine would connect to the Thomas Aarem, who tried to befriend me through Facebook.
As an Editor of a leading online Gambian Newspaper, I stumbled through different kinds of information. Occasionally, folks would call me explaining stories to me. I develop the passion of becoming a good listener. I value all callers and no information is useless from our end. We devote hours taking phone calls and listening to folks coming with different stories on a daily basis.
Prior to my source in Banjul contacting us with information about Thomas Aarem, a Gambian claiming to be residing in Norway once phoned me and briefed us about Thomas’s presence in the Gambia and his alleged affiliation with Jammeh’s jungullars. The information the caller provided at the time was scanty and as such we could not proceed with our investigations. The caller promised to get back to us, but we haven’t heard from him since then.
Unlike the Norway caller, our source in Banjul was able to provide us with pictures of Thomas Aarem hanging out with Sana Manjang. As you can see in these pictures, the tiny Sana Manjang is embracing his Norwegian friend while the two were having a drink at his home supposedly. The lady with her face covered is Sana’s girlfriend.
Sana Manjang and Aarem have been spotted in so many areas within the Greater Banjul Area. According to our source, occasionally Sana Manjang would ask his friend Thomas to help them with money to buy fuel (petrol) because they were supposed to embark on their usual patrol. Mr. Manjang heads an assassin team that is directly answerable to the country’s dictator Yahya Jammeh. Manjang has participated in the killing of Gambian journalist Deyda Hydara, the firebombing of the Independent Newspaper, the mass execution of over 44 Ghanaians in the Gambia, the execution of Daba Marena and co, including other state organized crimes.
Thomas Aarem is said to be back in Norway. He has asked a Gambian to oversee his restaurant for him. The phone numbers listed in his name in Norway are not working after repeated attempts to reach him for comment.
Thomas, according to our source, is also a close buddy of Pa Bojang of the PIU. In fact, two of his vehicles are with Pa Bojang. Our source met with both Pa Bojang, and Sana Manjang through third parties. He was able to elicit a lot of intelligence from the duo. Jammeh would be shocked about our findings if published online in the foreseeable future. Both Manjang and Bojang are desperately eager to leave the Gambia and settle in Europe.
During our investigations, we discovered that Thomas Aarem and his Gambian wife Fatou Janha are not in good terms. Fatou Jahna has lost contacts with Thomas in the recent past, so we gathered. Fatou even tried to reach Thomas by phone—only to find out that her husband has changed his Norwegian numbers, our source close to Sana Manjang said.
Fatou Jahna works at a Bar. She has been married to Thomas for some time now. Our source said Sana Manjang is a familiar face to Ms. Jahna. Sana and Fatou’s husband Thomas are best of friends, our source added.
I was in Norway this past Summer—not knowing that the guy who was trying to befriend me on Facebook Thomas Aarem is a close buddy of Major Sana Manjang. Thomas’s Facebook request that was sent to me by him is still pending. I am yet to acknowledge his request.
No one can definitively tell at this hour, as to how much state secrets Sana Manjang had confided to his Norwegian friend. He was not only hanging out with Thomas, but our source said Manjang occasionally begs Thomas money to fuel their patrol vehicle.
Jallow Kanilai’s assassin team members are sometime broke?? They cannot even afford fuel money? JK should not be surprised if we start leaking videos of some of the people he assigns Sana and co to kill. How about the tortures of detainees? Just watch!!!
Sana Manjang has compromised a lot of state secrets that we can report. His “superkanja mouth” runs non stops when he is drunk. All it takes to get Sana talking is to provide him with marijuana and alcohol. Sana Manjang is an intelligence risk. He is very vulnerable. We will live it at that Gambia!
